Companies House ID Verification Deadline

10th October 2025

Keeping up with legal requirements is essential for your business, and we at Dolmans Accountants are committed to ensuring our clients are fully prepared for mandatory changes.

The government has introduced a significant new requirement for all directors, People with Significant Control (PSCs), and equivalent roles to identity verification for Companies House.

A Legal Requirement – The Deadline is Crucial

You may be aware that it will be a legal requirement from 18 November 2025 for certain individuals to have verified their identity with Companies House.

Please Act Now!

If you fail to comply with this deadline, we will not be able to file anything with Companies House on your behalf until your verification is complete. This could lead to serious compliance issues for your company.

Who Needs to Verify Their Identity?

You will need to verify your identity if you hold any of the following roles:

  • A director
  • The equivalent of a director (e.g., members, general partners, and managing officers)
  • A Person with Significant Control (PSC)

Note: You must verify your identity as an individual, not as your company. You will need a personal, secure email address for this process.

Option 1: The Free DIY Route (Recommended)

The most common and cost-effective way to complete this is directly through the government’s website using the GOV.UK One Login system.

How to Verify:

  1. Visit the official guidance page: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/verify-your-identity-for-companies-house
  2. The system will ask you a few simple questions to determine the best verification method for you.
  3. Based on your answers, you will be guided to complete the process via one of the following:
    • Verifying with an app
    • Answering security questions online
    • Entering your photo ID details on GOV.UK One Login first, then attend a participating Post Office

The Companies House Personal Code (11-Digit Code)

Once your identity is successfully verified, you will receive a unique 11-digit identifier known as a Companies House personal code.

Why this code is critical:

It is absolutely vital that you share this 11-digit code with your contact at Dolmans Accountants before the 18 November 2025 deadline. We cannot complete statutory filings on your behalf without it. Please keep this code safe and only share it with trusted third parties, such as us.

Option 2: Use Our ACSP Verification Service

As an Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP), Dolmans Accountants is able to verify your identity on your behalf, offering a convenient alternative for clients who may prefer not to handle the process themselves.

Details of our service:

  • Fee: We charge an upfront fee of £100 plus VAT per individual for this service.
  • Requirements: We will need to obtain up-to-date identification from you, along with a secure personal email address.

Please note: We have limited availability to carry out this service. If you wish to use the Dolmans Accountants ACSP service, please let us know as soon as possible to secure your slot.

Action Steps

We strongly urge all eligible clients to act immediately to complete their verification.

  1. Choose your method: Verify your identity for free using the GOV.UK One Login system, or notify us immediately if you wish to use the Dolmans Accountants ACSP service.
  2. Get your code: Once verified, you will receive your 11-digit Companies House personal code.
  3. Share your code: Send your unique 11-digit code to your contact at Dolmans Accountants right away.

For more information on the process, please refer to the official government guidance: Verifying your identity for Companies House – GOV.UK.

If you have any further questions or wish to engage our ACSP service, please do not hesitate to contact us today.
